Marilyn (she/her) is an author and passionate advocate for self-advocacy in healthcare. Currently exploring her love for travel and new culinary experiences, she lives by the motto: "Trust the timing of your life."

Although Marilyn always dreamed of becoming an author, she never expected to write about medical issues. However, after facing her own medical scare, she felt inspired to help others dealing with similar challenges. In 2016, she published her memoir and guide, Winning Through Early Detection and the Beauty Behind It!

In 2017, Marilyn joined the Office of the Provost, working alongside multiple Vice and Associate Provosts. In 2019, she became the Budget Coordinator at the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture, supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives under the Provost’s Office. She now serves as the Assistant Director.

Marilyn has three adult children residing in California, Illinois, and Japan. While she is excited to be part of the Center, her daughter Danielle shares her enthusiasm for exploring its offerings.

Marilyn holds a Master of Science in Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph and is an Illinois Licensed Nail Technician.
